Founder and Director, Orangutan Foundation

“I’m a conservationist, so I’m very passionate about nature, especially the rainforests and orangutans. To see an orangutan move through its forest home is a life-affirming experience.

Orangutans are without a doubt the most amazing and yet enigmatic species. Their intelligence is there for all to see. They are gentle, often observing us as we observe them.

Orangutans urgently need help. There are several threats to orangutans but certainly the main one to their survival as a species is habitat loss. With logging and the conversion of forest to plantations for oil palm and paper pulp, and with 80 per cent of orangutans living outside of protected areas, we need to work together to find ways to ensure their future.
