Big 5s

“I’ve always felt a strange but beautiful connection with gorillas. I’ve always felt they experience and feel life like us humans do. They tend to be very loving and caring about their babies and their families. They’re very protective of their own, and even though they look big and scary, I can tell they are just big, gentle animals that feel a deep love and connection for their species.

When people go to see them at zoos, I can tell the gorillas wonder what we are so amazed about, why are we so impressed about how they live and what they do, since they are just like us. I can’t stop myself from wondering if they wish they could tell us that, that they just choose to live more simple and more loving, natural lives because that’s what brings joy and happiness, and because they don’t care about anything but to provide for their loved ones, spend time with them and hug them as much as they can.

They spend their time in the best way: being there for each other, not wanting success but love instead. Those hugs they give to each other look so comfy. I wish all of us humans would do that more often, with less barriers and judgement, and just more love for one another. We could learn so much from just contemplating gorillas and their existence.”
