“My favourite subject to photograph is unquestionably the mountain gorilla.
Because they are dark and present an interesting challenge to get a perfect image in their natural forest environment, I feel a great sense of achievement when I manage to get a clear photograph of a mountain gorilla. If you are able to catch a mountain gorilla’s eyes and facial expressions, the image can be extremely powerful.
Mountain gorillas are majestic but also vulnerable because they are so few in number; a good photograph can bring out their personalities and inspire people to protect them. On top of being curious, intelligent and accommodating, younger gorillas are playful and adults tend to be more thoughtful, enabling a wide range of expressions to be captured when visiting a family of gorillas.”
