“My favourite photographic subject is the wild dog. They are challenging because they are difficult to locate and usually on the move. It’s always rewarding when I find them. I enjoy the hunt.

Then, when you find them, there’s always something interesting going on. Sometimes you catch them peeing in the water that the next one is drinking from. Other times they are just piling themselves on top of each other, sleeping in the mid-day sun.

They also have a very interesting social structure. They are well-organized, led by a matriarch, and everyone pitches in to raise the pups. Their presence is fleeting, and I know I have to take all the pictures that I can because, unlike lions, who lay around for days at a time, these guys are on the road again before you know it. They are also incredibly adorable, despite their vicious hunting abilities.”
