“My favourite animal is the elephant. It’s an animal I’ve loved from a very tender age. I used to watch a lot of elephant documentaries, and now my work as a wildlife photographer and photographic host allows me to come to face-to-face with this gentle giant.

Their intelligence is one-of-a-kind. I’ve learnt a lot from elephants. Their social abilities are clear, especially from the large breeding herds, which comprises of mothers and their young ones. I’ve witnessed them putting their young ones in line, teaching their offspring how to walk and how to cross the mighty Chobe River into Sedudu Island. I’ve seen patience, love and utmost care.

Elephants are critical thinkers. The matriarch leads the whole herd into pasture, adventure and safety. It’s amazing how all the elephants with their young obey this one old mother who has seen it all. I guess it explains why they live longer.

We are blessed in Botswana and Chobe National Park to have the highest population of elephants in the world. Hundreds of elephants convene in this majestic river for water, for food and above all to cool off. They have made Chobe their paradise, where they feel less threatened and continue to prosper and roam freely.”
