“My favourite animal to photograph is the by far the red uakari. The intense red colour of this monkey, it’s unique ability to move through the trees, and the unmistakable bald face and head make it a spectacular subject. The rest of the body has abundant red hair and a short tail, which again makes it unique to South American primates.
It lives deep in the Amazonian rainforest in my home country of Peru. The red pigmentation of its face changes according to the lighting of the sun, so capturing the details and the colouring of the face can be very complicated but also very rewarding.”
