“Rhinos are very beautiful. I love to see the animal and the striking horn on the head, protruding like a radio antenna. When I was younger, I thought maybe the rhino used this horn to find its direction, or used the horn to detect something, to protect it when something is wrong, like any threats that were around it. Of course, now I know better.
The rhino is special to me because it’s my totem. In Uganda, every tribe has a specific animal attached to them. My totem, the rhino, was poached to extinction in Uganda, but now we’ve managed to get them back. We are now raising them at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where I’m chairman of the board.
I really love rhinos. It would be great to see more of them in Uganda again.”
